Meet Geri Fritz

Geri Fritz, Rise’s Champion of the Month for June 2026, serves as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) Float in the Community-Based Training and Employment (CBTE) program, where she provides support to multiple supported employment teams, ensuring they have the tools and resources they need to succeed.

Before joining Rise, Geri spent seven years as a special education paraprofessional, building a strong foundation for the work she continues today.

When Geri first joined Rise, she worked as a DSP in Rise’s Life Enrichment program. After about a year, her manager recognized that she had outgrown her role and could further utilize her skills in Rise’s CBTE program.

As Amanda Dircks, CBTE Program Manager, shared, “I was impressed right away, and this does not typically happen often.”

Geri has now been with Rise for four years. The passion she has for her role is evident in the connections she has built with both the people she supports and others on her team. Whether she is stepping into a familiar site or supporting a team for the first time, Geri works to ensure everyone feels valued and supported.

“I love working with our people,” Geri shared.

Geri’s Impact

When Geri first joined the CBTE program as a DSP Float, she was responsible for training and providing coverage across five supported employment teams. While the role was initially intimidating, she embraced the challenge and continued to expand her skills.

Today, Geri has provided support to more than 10 supported employment teams and remains willing to get trained on additional sites whenever needed. Her flexibility and commitment to helping others have made her a trusted team member throughout the program.

“Her willingness to help others and go above and beyond to ensure the people we support are heard and feel understood is unmatched,” Amanda said.

Geri is known for her person-centered approach and positive attitude. She recognizes the unique needs of people while balancing the demands of multiple sites. She approaches challenges with an open mind, welcomes coaching and feedback, and values the perspectives of those around her. Her professionalism and supportive nature have also made her a go-to trainer and role model for fellow team members.

What makes Geri especially proud is supporting people as they achieve their employment goals.

“I’m most proud of helping the people served with their jobs and watching them be proud of the job they do,” she said.

Geri Outside of Rise

When she is not supporting people at Rise, Geri enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband. Four-wheeling and other outdoor activities are among her favorites. Family is also an important part of her life, and she treasures time spent with her grandchildren.
