Meet Lucas Bisson
Lucas Bisson, Activity Coordinator at Rise St. Louis Park, has been creating engaging experiences for people served since starting in November 2024. He began as a Direct Support Professional at Rise New Brighton before stepping into his current role in August 2025.
Before Rise, Lucas worked as a General Manager at an entertainment venue with escape rooms, axe throwing, and team-building events. “One of my favorite parts of that job was helping build and complete escape rooms,” he says. “I loved creating memorable experiences for guests.” He also developed skills as an axe and knife-throwing coach.
His passion for creating meaningful moments led him to Rise. “I realized how much I loved creating experiences that made people smile,” Lucas explains. “I found that supporting the people we serve and helping create meaningful experiences for them was an even more impactful and rewarding way to make a difference in the world.”
Lucas’s Impact
Lucas is known for his creativity, enthusiasm, and person-centered approach, ensuring each person has access to activities that match their interests and needs. “I’m most proud of hopefully being someone the people we serve look forward to seeing each day,” Lucas says. “I take pride in creating experiences and moments that make an impact, whether it’s something they talk about with family or housemates later or, simply a memory that brightens their day!”
Colleagues highlight Lucas’s dedication. One team member shared, “Lucas always encourages people served to participate and creates a welcoming atmosphere for everyone.” Another added, “He does his best to ensure all persons served have some sort of activity each day. If they cannot participate, he will sit beside them and read to them, so they still feel included. He truly keeps his eye on each person served and what works best for them.”
Lucas also plans seasonal events and outings for multiple Rise sites to attend, helping build community across the organization. “What I enjoy most about my job is the different perspective it has given me. Working at Rise has helped me see the world through a different lens and given me a deeper appreciation for life. The relationships I’ve built, the excitement, and the genuine connection from the people we serve are truly special.”
Lucas Outside of Rise
Outside of work, Lucas enjoys camping, hiking, and paddleboarding along Minnesota’s north shore. He also enjoys video games, puzzles, and spending time with his cat, Phantom.
“Working at Rise has helped me see the world through a different lens and given me a deeper appreciation for life… I feel like the kindness and positivity I try to put into the world are reflected right back to me every day,” he shares. His positivity and dedication make him a valued member of the Rise team and a deserving Champion of the Month.
