Celebrate Talent, Fridley High School Auditorium, Tuesday, April 9, 2019
It was a fabulously fun evening of showcasing the many talents the people we support and our Rise team members have. The audience enjoyed singing, dancing, joke-telling, and much more. Special thanks to the tech team at Fridley High School Auditorium and community volunteers, including members of the St. Anthony Village High School Key Club, who helped make this such a great event.
Legislative Updates: Two dates and locations - Wednesday, April 17 at Rise Spring Lake Park and Wednesday, April 24 at Rise Oakdale
President Lynn Noren gave information regarding the progress of pending bills, provided resources, and offered guidance on how to reach out to state legislative representatives.
Tapping Into Possibilities 'Friend-Raiser,' Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at the Hop & Barrel Brewing Co. in Hudson, Wis.
Close to 100 people attended our 4th Tapping Into Possibilities event at the Hop & Barrel Brewing Co., 310 Second St. in downtown Hudson. It was a beautiful summer evening with music from DJ John Thorp, great food Big Guy's BBQ Roadhouse's food truck, quality craft brews, games and prizes -- and lots and lots of friendly people! It was the first time this event was held on the far-eastern side of Rise's service area and we so enjoyed meeting people we serve, their families, and community supporters from that area.
Celebrate Rise! Fundraising Gala, Monday, October 21, 2019, 5 - 8:30 p.m.
More than 450 friends, family, and supporters attended the 8th annual Celebrate Rise Fundraising Gala which was held at the Minneapolis Marriott Northwest on Monday, October 21. This year's theme is "Life is a journey. If you open yourself up to the possibilities, it can take you places you never dreamed of."
In addition to fun and games, a live auction, and entertaining program, we honored our 2019 Rise'ing Stars: Denise Coppess, Bob Hagglund, Lauren Ireland, Ashley Kimlinger, Jacob McMahon, and Ia Thor. Champion of the Mission Casey Strack, Making a Difference Honoree Dixie Mengelkoch, and Community Partners: K-Tek Wisconsin, Medtronic, and the New Brighton Community Center.
Money raised at the gala supports Rise's Advancing Lives Fund from which people we serve can receive a one-time donation to cover needs not met by other sources, such as wheelchair ramp for home, assistive communication equipment and devices, tools and books for courses and training programs, work uniforms and shoes, etc.

Next year's event is scheduled for Monday, October 26, 2020, at the Minneapolis Marriott Northwest. Sponsorship and registration information will be available in the summer.
