Rise Coon Rapids is nearing completion of an exciting kitchen renovation that will expand opportunities for people supported through life enrichment programs there. Construction began in December 2025 after Anoka County approved a Community Development Block Grant. While that grant funded the construction, a Community Development Grant from the Cummins Foundation made it possible to purchase the new appliances and equipment that will bring the space to life.

The updated kitchen features a more open, accessible layout designed to support many different types of programming. Once open, it will allow Rise Coon Rapids to offer more inclusive cooking classes, gardening and nutrition activities, career‑readiness lessons, music appreciation sessions, and more. The added space and upgraded tools will make it easier for all participants, including those who use adaptive equipment, to be involved.

Rise’s Coon Rapids serves more than 135 adults with disabilities and supports various programs, including traditional day services, sensory day services for participants who are Deaf and have Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, and retirement day services. This renovation strengthens all of these programs by creating a flexible space where people can learn new skills and enjoy a welcoming community setting.
