Despite the many challenges posed by the pandemic during the fall semester, Grace LaNasa found her internship with Rise to be rewarding. Grace will graduate from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, in May 2021, where she is majoring in history and Asian studies with a concentration in film studies.

“I applied for the internship because I have a passion for volunteering and planning, and Rise seemed like a good fit,” said Grace.

She worked on a number of projects that involved managing volunteer hours, creating flyers announcing special promotions for volunteers, and researching different volunteer opportunities. “I am most proud of my ability to multitask during this experience as I often had to manage several different projects.

“I learned so much more about the administrative sides of nonprofit work during my time with Rise, and I think I will benefit from the experience I gained from interviewing new volunteers,” Grace continued. Outside of her internship, Grace’s interests include rugby, embroidery, and film.
