As a program supervisor at Rise Bloomington, it’s easy to see that Cory McDevitt has a heart for serving others. With an unwavering dedication to his team of five direct support professionals and the fifty people they serve, Cory creates a positive work environment by having fun and going above and beyond his job duties.
Cory’s role includes supporting staff, personnel hiring and training, staff scheduling, managing supply orders, and various paperwork. He also leads by example, often assisting with direct support for persons served and doing small tasks that meet the needs of the organization and lighten the load for others.
A commitment to others began early for Cory, as he used to help his Grandma care for his uncle who has disabilities. And after serving people in a residential setting for 13-plus years, Cory began working for Rise as a direct support professional and was later promoted to the case manager. He took on the program supervisor position three years ago, and this past March rang in his 13-year anniversary at Rise.
“I’m passionate about my work, enjoy the people I work with and have a special bond with the people we serve,” says Cory. “It’s important to me that they know how much I care. I recognize the uniqueness in others and do what I can to help them achieve their goals.
“I also really value my schedule at Rise,” Cory added. “Working Monday through Friday – no weekends, no holidays – allows me to enjoy time outside of work with my friends, family and dog Bandit … and watch my favorite show, Wheel of Fortune!”
Rise is proud to have service-orientated people like Cory on our team!
