  • Mental Health Job Placement Intern

    20 - 40 hours per week

    Disability Type:

    Purpose of position: This position assists individuals with complex barriers to employment in finding and maintaining work. These barriers include, but are not limited to, serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI), serious mental illness (SMI), criminal backgrounds, chemical dependency, and other disabilities and medical conditions.  Employment occurs in community business sites appropriate to their interests, skills, and support needs.  This position provides ongoing job stabilization support services, including individualized training and counseling; and carries a long-term follow-up caseload, as needed. Position works as part of a treatment team that can include mental health clinicians, medical personnel, case managers, and vocational rehabilitation counselors.

    The Mental Health Job Placement Intern will work under three different service models and programs:

    -          Project Search: assisting transition aged students obtain competitive, community employment upon the completion of a year-long internship at HCMC.

    -          Hennepin Health: assisting individuals that are currently on Hennepin Health insurance who have recently been hospitalized due to a behavioral health incident, find competitive, community employment

    -          Creating Access: assisting individuals with a SPMI obtain and maintain competitive employment using Individual Placement and Support Services (IPS).

    Major responsibilities:

    -          Provide continuous job development to locate vacancies and opportunities for employment for specific individuals, as necessary.

    -          Conduct person-centered planning by matching the individual’s interests, work aptitudes, income needs, transportation, etc. with job prospects.

    -          Assesses health support needs and consults with appropriate mental and physical health and vocational agencies, as necessary.

    -          Analyze specific job situations to determine the conditions of employment, competencies required to perform the job, possible modifications of tasks to achieve reasonable employment accommodations for the people supported by Rise.

    -          Engages as part of the treatment team

    The purpose of this position is to manage the design and plan for the maintenance of equipment, machinery including production equipment, buildings and other facilities.

    Role Responsibilities:

    ·        Coordinate maintenance and repair work performed by technicians, vendors and contractors for building, landscaping and janitorial work.

    ·        Manage accurate planning and tracking of Rise’s facility related assets and maintain production equipment and inventory.

    ·        Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC

    ·        Work effectively with people and build teams

    ·        The ability to travel a minimum of 10-15%

    ·        Ability to operate and maintain the equipment used in the department,

    o   Including snow-blowing machines, various floor machines, etc.

    o   Maneuver a ladder and not be afraid to work from heights.

    o   Forklift experience strongly preferred

    ·        Experience with production equipment in a manufacturing environment, including purchasing equipment

    ·        Integrity, dependability, and punctuality and excellent organizational skills

    ·        Current, valid driver's license and driving record that demonstrates safe, legal driving habits
